What is Right Conversation at the Right Time?

Clinical consultations lie at the heart of health care, and the effectiveness of these conversations are the major determinant of quality of care, clinical outcomes and patient experience.  Right Conversation at the Right Time is a service improvement programme that helps patients, doctors, nurses and receptionists get the most from the conversations they have with each other.

What does it offer?

Right Conversation at the Right Time has taken rather different forms in General Practice and in the Emergency Department.  It offers direct interventions to the clinical consultation, to conversations with receptionists and to the physical environment.  In partnership with Altogether Better it has developed the role of volunteer Practice Health Champions and Emergency Department Champions.

How can we get involved?

If you are interested in taking up the Right Conversation at the Right Time approach do please contact us.

Who has been involved?

Right Conversation at the Right Time was co-produced by a working group comprising patients, clinicians and managers with the support of an external team grounded in the disciplines of complex adaptive social systems and linguistic analysis.

Participants were drawn from three General Practices in Leeds (St Martin's, City View and Robin Lane) and the two Emergency Departments at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust.

The programme was commissioned by NHS Airedale, Bradford & Leeds and the Clinical Commissioning Groups in Leeds.
